In the Bush doctrine fish bowl I was the con side. I was very passionate ad had to think really hard about what the other side would say and how I would respond. over all I think that the con side was better because the doctrine could potentially ruin many relationships.

Hations react to the USA

Everything I Hati right has such angry vibe. They are so upset with the U.S. That they even are planning an uprising to try and claim back that they are strong to the U.S. They have had every single one of their rights taken away as well as their house hold items that have been taken by the army. Everyone here is going nuts. They still controlled by another country which is no what they want, they want to be a free independent nation. All the U.S. can hope for now is that there is no revolt or uprising from them after they talk things out. I am nervous for everyone and hope that nothing bad comes out of this new arrangement and that each side can see past their differences and work together.

We analyzed two pictures from the Sophia in class and discussed what was going on. It was about how the US made the panama canal and what they had to do it. we also read a speech about the same event. I really enjoyed our discussion today and t cleared up all my confusion about how the canal was madde

I love Yellow Journalism. As bad as that sounds, I love when there are catchy titles the create scenarios that are often far from what the truth really is. Today and yesterday in class we made titles for around 8 different articles that were done be using yellow journalism. Today we went from section to section and chose the ones we liked best, some were very good while others cold have used a bit more exaggeration for my taste but over all I really liked this activity and would do it again for sure!

The Week of MCAS torture. We really didn't do much in class other than hang out because Mr boyle was in charge of the MCAS rooms so we really had nothing schedualed except for the 16%.

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

today in class we did a fish bowl activity. I was chosen to be in a group that represented the presidents actions of moving the Indians outside of the state with out government permeation. Although at first I didn't agree with this move, while thinking of ways to support my groups arguments, I was some what intrigued by all of the good things about him doing this. One good thing that it would prevent the tribe from becoming a part of the American government and culture, which was what they wanted, and if they would have stayed in the middle then eventually they would had or a huge war would have broke out between the Indians and the locals. Even though the president did go about his the wrong way it wasn't all bad and there were a few good points to why. Now i'm not quite sure what I believe but I do know that it could be see as both a good and bad move.

Monday, May 6, 2013

Today in class we read a poem and then compared it to another poem that was modeled after that poem. Then we were chosen to create our version of that poem by comparing the two and using similar word. The two poems were very different but I noticed that the common theme was a culture or ethnicity was writing about how they are treated and how they are different and are looked down on. These poems made me think that if all the people in one way or another felt mistreated than why would they treat others who they believe are less than them bad as well. I believe that if you know what its like to be treated badly that you would show more compassion towards others.

in between the drops and subs

Movie, Movie, Movie! when Mr. Boyle announced we would be watching a movie in class while he was out i couldn't have been more excited. He told us we would be watching an old western and i was even more excited. learning about how cowboys really were in class prior to the movie i was excited to see how the two compare. Watching the movie i thought it was exciting, the cowboys had to make choices much like the real people, choices like where to go/ what route to take/what to bring/ who to bring? in the movie we got more a visual of how the cowboys were. I like to think that real life cowboys were similar to the ones in the movie. i loved the movie and felt it helped me picture the life of a cowboy better than any article or picture would.

April 24th

I walked into class unsure of what we were doing when i saw the set up of the class room. I started off in the stand section, where my group had to determine the best way to set up a prairie house and what we would do when the seasons change and how the inside set up would be. At the Sit station you had to sit while your picture was taken for a minute. As my picture was being taken i could feel myself shaking, i realized how hard it must of been for those people who posed in the photos on the prairie. At the smell station we smeled what our houses would be made of...SOD! The sod smelled like the lawn mower clipping in a bag. I didn't think it smelled overly bad but under the conditions in the praiie i can imagine it smelled ten times worse. Seeing all of the things that the Prairie life didn't have make e thankful for how i live today, i don't know if prairie life would be well suited for me.

april 10th

Its skit day. Now im no actress, so i was a bit uneasy about going infont of my classmates and trying to portray myself in our manifest destiny skit. i was a salesman trying to convince a family to move west. although the content was present in everyones, i did not like doing the skits, i may not be shy in discussion but i don't like going and standing infront of the class.

April 8th

We had a sub today and had to do a bunch of worksheets, it was one of our rather boring classes with no discussion, I missed that we didn't have any class discussion today.

april 3rd

in between accuplacer tests and a quick inclass project I found it a great way to end the week. In class we got into groups of two and we had to think of a slogan icon, and a poem. I got partnered with my Friend Megan M. It seems like anytime I have a project with poetry in this class megan m is my partner. We worked really well and came up with our poem with ease and icon. Our slogan was "We protect our own Ehhh." because we had the Canadians point of view.

Day 6

In class I originally was in the impressment group. After hearing everyone's groups present I decided to switch sided to the orders of council. the main influence on my switch was that the orders of council seemed to me to be the only problem that effected the whole country. The other problems all contributed to the problem but more so caused internal conflict between the US and what they were dealing with going on in their country. the fact that Britain was controlling their lives again when the reason that the US cut all ties with Britain were due to them wanting to control them made them upset and was kind of the last straw. Most people agreed with me in the sense that this was why the war started.

April 1st

So in class we worked on a in class type project in the computer lab. when we were in the computer lab we went on an interactive expedition where we had to decide on what path we wanted to take on an expedition with lewis and clark. In the activity we made our own mistakes as well as chose what we wanted to do. through this activity we had to write journal entries about what we chose and why we chose it. Over all I found this activity helpful and fun for understanding how important these decisions were.

day 4

The land of the delays and snow days! On the one day we did have we worked on a bunch of worksheets and documents in class. The documents all had to do with none other than the Montgomery Bus boycott. I learned that because of this being a non violent protest it was successful. other factors like bus business going down and white businesses not having as much business as usual. Over all this was a great movement the lead to pretty good out comes.

Day 2

Today we watched a long hoped for movie. The movie was about the Emmett Till case. I found the movie to be informative and captivating, it grabbed my attention and I feel as if I learned more than I would have if I had read an article on the case. The movie showed the point of view from an African American stance and made me see how not only did the case affect the family but the African American population as well. The movie was much appreciated on such a long day and was a great way to connect what we are learning.

day 6

So we had another half day which meant no history sadly on Friday and then on Monday we drop so I don't have much to talk about. On Thursday though we did write letters in the perspective of some one in the Scottsboro boys trial. My group got the defendant, I found it easy to write in his point of view because there were many faulty and down right unfair things that went on in that trial. I try to look back and realize why the blacks were treated the way they were and I come to find myself drawing a blank because no human being deserves to be treated that way.

day 4

Yesterday in class we worked on a lot of worksheets. Today we did some more exciting things, we talked about what was going on with civil rights a bit. My favorite part of class was when e read two poems in class. One poem compared the south to a whore, basically stating that it would do anything to get money that's why they had slavery. The second poem talked about people who lived in the South didn't want to necessarily be there. At the end of class we listened to some old jazz music that was made when the African American's first started to express themselves through the arts. The music reminded me of old black and white silent movies and old swing music, I enjoyed being able to here the kind of music they were creating and listening to back at that time period.

Day 2 post

Today in school we had an assembly about drugs, or at least that's what it was supposed to be about. To me and many others it was an assembly on how to treat people as well. this man came and did a one man show which I found to be quite funny but in between laughs you were able to see some serious situations. Mr. Boyle had a talk with my class, about how we treat each other. I agreed with him that we do treat people awful, but we aren't bad people, we throw around words that we don't mean, we label others for what they look like and how they dress. Right here right now I personally am not going to tolerate it any more, im not going to sit around while others get bullied and trash talked, Mr. Boyle you were right today and even though I might not always participate in the conversation I am still not doing anything to stop it. its not an easy change and we all have to come together to make a change, kind of like the African American civil rights movement, everyone had to come together and be on the same terms in order to make integration successful.

Time Line

Reconstruction Timeline

day 6

Today and yesterday we planed and filmed our projects. Over all it was very stressful but I think the final product will be worth all of our hard work.

day 4

Two words that make every kid happy SNOW DAY! the only thing to really talk about is tat we worked on our projects in class Thursday.

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

day 2

Yesterday in class we talked about the Jim Crow laws and black code. I found that because there was a sudden force of people coming into communities after being slaves or being a different race made people resist the change and rebel. I think that maybe if they gradually pushed people into society that we may not have had such a huge outburst of hate crimes. In class we also talked about our animation project that i'm really excited about. I feel that Mr. Boyle is right in saying that this project will make things click in our minds more. I'm excited to try this new learning system and to see all of my class mates works.

day 6

Today we looked at Andrew Johnson's Obituary. We also talked a lot about the separation and the division that the new amendments and acts caused between white and black even more tension. Another thing we talked about was sharecropping which I found to be not fair at all. By the time you did all that was required before you were allowed to plant your crops it would either be too late or you would be behind on payment and be forced to work it off, which was almost like slavery all over again except now it was legal because they had too pay them back one way or another.

day 4 post

Yesterday we broke up into groups and made a magazine cover for the 14th amendment. We named our magazine A-27 because there are 27 amendments. we wrote that in our Magazine there were going to be some ways to start your own business, how to find your new husband, how to by new properties and the new amendments that had been added. This exercise helped me realize the new power people had and that all people wanted to do was have the same rights of everyone else which I don't think is much to ask for. Today in class we discussed the different plans people made. Personally I agreed with Lincolns plan a little more because he believed in political equality, personally I think we should all be equal in all aspects of life. I believe that if we gradually gave these rights away the South wouldn't have wanted to rebel right away and they would get more and more used to the fact that we should all have equal rights. Over all these activities helped me better understand everyone's feelings and what was going through peoples heads.

day 2 post

Yesterday we took notes in class about President Lincoln's Assassination. Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on April 14th, 1865. In the end Booth was trying to help the south but he ended up hurting them, because they were punish by the north who wanted more revenge on the south. If I was a Southerner I would be mad at him because now we had more restrictions and a harder price to pay. Today in class we went to the computer lab and looked at pictures of the south after the war was over. There were lots of buildings that were demolished and destroyed land. What I realized was that the south not only had things worst then the North but had resentment towards the African Americans, and just because they were free didn't mean that they were protected from unhappy people who wanted them gone. In the end nothing was turning out in anyone's favor because there was still unhappy people and people who didn't want change.

1/22/13-1/23/13

I think that I'm most like Winnie the pooh. Winnie the pooh Isn't the smartest person there is like me but he has a good heart. I have learned that I may not be the smartest person out there but I get by and work hard. I like Winnie the pooh have a big heart, my family and friends are everything to me and I don't know what I would do without them. In my heart I know what is right and what isn't and I always try to do the right thing because if I don't I tend to feel really bad and question my self until I fix what I did wrong. I also am like Winnie the pooh because my best friend is everything and with out her I wouldn't know what to do which is a huge part of What makes alike because Winnie the pooh always has Christopher Robin and ill always have her. Here were my results after taking the quiz http://www.brainfall.com/results/which-winnie-the-pooh-character-are-you/ this said that I was not only like Pooh but like the rabbit as well. I think it said I was like the rabbit because I am a very nervous and cautious person who plays by the rules. I am completely happy with who I am because I have all of those characteristics and embrace them because they are what make me who I am.
